Mines Gambling Game: Rules, Tile-by-Tile Odds & Strategies

The mines gambling game looks like the Minesweeper you played as a kid, but every safe tile raises the payout and makes the next click riskier.

What Is the Mines Gambling Game?

The mines gambling game is a casino game where you open tiles on a 5x5 grid and try to avoid hidden mines. Every safe tile raises your multiplier, and you can cash out at any moment. Hit a mine, and you lose the bet.

The idea comes from Minesweeper, but the casino version adds a bet, a growing multiplier and a cash-out button. On BetFury, the in-house version runs at 99.02% RTP, one of the highest returns among the platform’s Originals. Our guide to casino RTP explains what that figure means over thousands of rounds.

How Does Mines Work?

Mines works on a simple trade-off: every safe tile raises your multiplier, but it also leaves fewer safe squares on the board, so the next click gets riskier.
The twist of the Mines casino game is that you pick the difficulty. One mine makes for an easy walk. With 24 mines, only one tile is safe, and finding it pays about 24.75x.

How to Play Mines Step by Step

To play Mines, set a bet, choose how many mines to hide, open tiles one by one and cash out before you hit a mine.

  1. Set your bet. Choose a currency and enter the amount. Start small while you learn how the multiplier grows.
  2. Choose the number of mines. Pick from 1 to 24. Fewer mines mean safer clicks and smaller multipliers.
  3. Press Bet and open tiles. Click any square. A gem raises your multiplier. A mine ends the round, and you lose the bet.
  4. Cash out or keep going. After each safe tile, take the current win or open another tile for a higher multiplier.

Mines Odds: Calculator and Multiplier Chart

The mines gambling game runs on simple math, and every mines calculator uses the same formula. Your first tile is safe with a chance of (25 − mines) ÷ 25, so 3 mines give you 88%. Each safe click shrinks the board, so the chances multiply: surviving 3 tiles with 3 mines works out to 88% × 87.5% × 87% ≈ 67%. Your payout is roughly 0.9902 ÷ that probability, based on BetFury’s 99.02% RTP.

The mines odds change from row to row, but the return stays the same. With 5 mines you win about half the time for 2.00x, and with 1 mine you win 88% of the time for 1.13x. Both average out to 99.02%. The number of mines changes only your volatility: frequent small wins or rare big ones.

Popular Mines Strategies

The Low-Mine Grind (1–3 Mines, 2–4 Tiles)

Setup: 3 mines, cash out after 2 tiles.
Odds: 77% to win 1.29x. At 4 tiles, it’s 58% for 1.71x.
How to play it: keep a small, fixed bet and cash out on the same tile every round. One loss wipes out about three wins, so don’t raise the stake after a winning streak.

The Mid-Risk Setup (Around 5 Mines)

Setup: 5 mines, cash out after 3 tiles.
Odds: 49.6% to win 2.00x, close to a coin flip that pays double.
How to play it: this is the most balanced mines game strategy. Bet small enough that 5-6 losses in a row won’t end your session.

The High-Risk Sniper (10+ Mines, 1-2 Tiles)

Setup: 10 or 20 mines, cash out after 1-2 tiles.
Odds: with 10 mines, 60% for 1.65x on one tile or 35% for 2.83x on two. With 20 mines, 20% for 4.95x.
How to play it: cash out after the first or second gem, never later. Losing runs get long, so use your smallest stake and set a stop-loss before you start.

Tile Patterns Don’t Matter

Corners, diagonals and “lucky” tiles have no effect in the mines gambling game. In provably fair Mines, the mine positions are fixed before you bet, so every tile carries the same risk. A pattern that seemed to work was just variance, a classic case of the gambler’s fallacy.

Bet Sizing Is the Real Strategy

What you actually control is the mine count, the number of tiles you open and your bet size. BetFury’s Strategy mode automates bet sizing with presets like Martingale, Paroli and D’Alembert, and you can save up to 50 custom strategies. For steady play, start with the Oscar’s Grind betting system: it raises the stake slowly instead of doubling after losses.

Mines vs Keno vs Plinko

The key difference is control: Mines is the only one of the three where you make decisions after the round starts. In Keno, you pick numbers and wait for the draw. In Plinko, you choose a risk level and drop the ball, and nothing changes after that.
Our guide to the best Keno numbers explains why no number is luckier than another, and the Plinko strategy guide covers how risk levels work.

On BetFury, all three games run at 99.02% RTP, so the choice comes down to how much control you want during a round. For a fuller look at pace and volatility, see our comparison of instant casino games.

How to Play the Mines Gambling Game

Sign up, make a deposit and open Mines in the Originals section. Set your bet and the number of mines, then press Bet.

Mines Bet Limits

Mines accepts bets from $0.001 to $7,000, with a maximum payout of $100,000 per bet. VIP players get higher limits on BetFury: up to $21,000 per bet and $300,000 per payout.

Mines Auto Mode

If you play the Mines casino game often, AutoMode and Strategy mode save a lot of clicking. Set a base bet, mine count, tiles to open and a progression, then let the rounds run. Our autobet guide walks through each setting.

Live Chart and the Statistic panel track every result, so you can review how a setup performed over 200 rounds instead of trusting gut feeling.

How to Check if a Mines Round Was Fair

You check a provably fair Mines round by comparing the hash shown before your bet with the result revealed after it. If they match, the mine positions were set in advance and nobody changed them mid-round. On BetFury, the Fairness pop-up shows the next round’s hash, the result appears in the Random Seed field and the Check button runs the SHA-256 comparison.

The BetFury Fairness page walks through each step, and our explainer on casino RNG covers how casinos produce random outcomes.

How to Play Mines Responsibly

The simplest way to play Mines responsibly is to set your limits before the first click. In the mines gambling game, you choose when each round ends, so emotional decisions cost more than in slots.
Set a stop-loss before you start. Decide how much you’re willing to lose in the session and stop when you reach it, without making another deposit.

Fix your cash-out point in advance. Pick a number of tiles (say, 3 tiles with 3 mines) and cash out every time you get there.
Set a win target too, and take a break when you hit it. If you notice the urge to chase losses, our responsible gambling guide covers practical ways to keep play under control.

FAQ

1. Is there a pattern to win at Mines?
No. Mine positions come from a random result fixed before each round, and you can verify it through the Fairness page. Corners, diagonals and “lucky” tiles have the same chance as any other square with the same number of mines on the board. The only choices that change your results are mine count, tiles opened and bet size.

2. How many mines should I choose as a beginner?
Start with 1 to 3 mines and cash out after 2 to 4 tiles. With 3 mines and 2 tiles, you win about 77% of rounds, which gives you time to learn the rhythm of the game without big swings. If the casino offers free play, practice there first: on BetFury, that’s FunFury.

3. Does the number of mines change the RTP?
No. The RTP stays the same whatever mine count you choose. More mines raise the multiplier by exactly as much as they lower your chance of winning. What changes is volatility: fewer mines bring frequent small wins, while more mines bring rare, bigger ones.

4. Can I check where the mines were after a round?
Yes. In provably fair Mines, the board reveals every mine position when the round ends, and you can verify the result with the round’s hash. On BetFury, the Fairness pop-up stores the Random Seed and hash for your completed bets, so you can paste the seed into the checker and compare.

5. What is the maximum multiplier in Mines?
In theory, clearing every safe tile with 12 or 13 mines pays over 5,000,000x, because your odds of doing it are about 1 in 5.2 million. In practice, every casino caps the maximum win: on BetFury, it’s $100,000 per bet, or $300,000 for VIP players.
